Most Victorian pickle-heads have played at McMinn Park. If you haven’t been there, the parking for the multi use courts are off Maplegrove St. in Saanich. It’s a great place to play in the nice weather and the courts are well used…. Too well used. Occasionally there are tennis players who are using the 2 available spaces. We have a chance to change the situation…If you haven’t completed the user input form (the link below), please do so now. We have an opportunity to get designated courts at McMinn! Remember, the deadline for public input is December 31st
*When I filled out the online form, I requested that they put in at least 4 designated picklball courts. I also suggested that, if they are going to have only multi-use courts, that they change the designated times for pickleball to the morning hours. The current pickleball only times are 1-3pm…I think most of us would prefer 10am-noon.
*Props to all the players who filled out the form, and went to the meetings concerning Tolmie Park in Saanich…Our work paid off. We now have 2 beautiful designated courts there! While we are on the subject…the designated courts at Carnarvon Park are also the result of organized lobbying by the Oak Bay pickleballers. I expect we will be getting more places to play now that we have the VRPA (Victoria Regional Pickleball Association) to represent us.
I have been taking a break from blogging lately. However, I will be sending out something in the near year about Scott Moore…I don’t want to say to much yet, but if you don’t know who he is, I’ve put a link below. This video is courtesy of Jennifer Lucore’s allpickleball site.
This video is from June 2015. At the time, Scott was mainly known for his singles play. That is all changed…. Scott had an unbelievable run in 2016. He won a truckload of medals in singles and doubles play, including 3 golds at the TOC and an unprecedented 6 golds at the US Nationals!
Stayed tuned I will have much more about the incredible Scott Moore in January. Until then, have a Merry Christmas and…
Thanks for the game,
